We are a small organization with big ideas:
We believe gray whales count, and we believe in Gray Whales Count.
We are dedicated to surveying the northbound migration through the Santa Barbara Channel, monitoring the whales and assessing the vitality of the population locally as it travels by dolphins, other whales, and pinnipeds, all of which dodge commercial and recreational vessels and a working oil platform offshore of our station. Jean-Michel Cousteau has labeled this an obstacle course, and we are particularly concerned about interactions with the whales.
We share our data with other organizations sampling the migration in a effort to create a higher-resolution image of northeast Pacific Gray whales.
We believe in our committed community, willing to participate in this effort, to support our work, to learn about these magnificent marine mammals, and to share that passion and experience with others.
We are Counters.
Your support — your donation — makes you a partner in this effort. Thank you very much.
You, too, Count.
