Gray Whales Count
Gray Whales Count
Day 10
Thursday, February 26, 2015
The best place in the world can be a rock by the ocean.
We were lucky again with seven sightings of northbound Gray whales, totaling eleven whales. They were spread out across the day and ocean in front of us.
The cormorant and young sea lion, on the rock below us were enjoying a break from the action in the warmth of the sun, which was right around 80 degrees. Pretty nice.
There were only two southbounders today and zero Bottlenose dolphins, but we saw Commons a few times and once way out with spectacular leaps.
We had two sea lions on the shore. One was in need of a rescue but it must have become impatient because it slid into the ocean, unavailable for assistance. The other was the resting young sea lion in the image.
We had two sightings of Harbor seals.
