Gray Whales Count
Gray Whales Count
Day 22
Tuesday, March 10, 2015
The beat goes on: 38 northbound Gray whales! Quite a run.
It was foggy, but there was enough visibility at nine to allow us to start. Fortunately for us, it slowly got better and we were able to put in another full day on the Point. It was a tab bit more leisurely (relatively speaking), even though the action started right away with a group of five, just after nine. And, just after ten we found two groups of pairs. In the first group was a Breacher (note the capital B). We were treated to at least a dozen. Unfortunately, our camera-guy (note the lower case C) could only manage a touch of whale amid a splash.
Yes, all the dolphin species were present and accounted for along with a Harbor seal. One of these days we will smile as we report a Sea otter. Today is not that day, but we are smiling still, even though we may have to find a new camera-guy.
