Gray Whales Count

Day 26

Saturday, March 14, 2015

Our streak of 29 ended, but the weirdness persists ...

Over 90˚ in Goleta today, and, for us, it was more like a Louisiana countryside with spreading oaks and Spanish moss, without the shade and sticky. It was and a slow waltz played on a cajun fiddle backed by Tabasco. The tempo of the day was slow ...........

Single whales gently separated the surface, and mostly stayed beneath the oily-smooth water. Groups — and we saw a couple of big mating groups — moved like Tina Turner at the beginning of Proud Mary.

Even the dolphins were in sync: slow and easy.
