Gray Whales Count
Gray Whales Count
Day 30
Wednesday, March 18, 2015
We passed six hundred and continue to be astonished by the numbers and consistency.
Today’s northbound Gray whales included a lot of juveniles as singles and pairs and sometimes paired with a bigger whale that makes us think of the coming calf migration. Historically, we are not yet to our peak day. We can’t quite imagine a count of more than 53, which occurred May 9, but this is a crazy year ...
Meanwhile, we again saw two different Harbor seals and an active group of about 30 Lags, with sea lions foraging west of us.Today, we saw only a pair of Bottlenose dolphins and a small group of about twenty Commons.
We have yet to see a Sea otter ...
