Gray Whales Count
Gray Whales Count
Day 59
Thursday, April 16, 2015
We were so taken by the calf’s aerial, we decided to call it a “Condor.” This calf was half of our seventh and final pair on the day.
We started nine minutes early with two pairs in the kelp in front of Counter Point. A half hour later, we saw pair number 3 at Campus Point, with pair four following another half hour after that, and pair five one more half hour later.
During our break from whales, we saw a pair of Bottlenose dolphins and four Harbor seals!
Our next-to-last Gray whale Cow/calf pair arrived ten minutes before the 1 PM shift change, and the final pair was sighted at Campus Point at a quarter to four. The sensational “Condor” was preformed about twenty minutes later, right in front of the Counter Point crowd and thrilled whale watchers aboard the Condor Express: star power!
