17 Gray whale cow/calf pairs!

The day was extended a bit to figure out just how many whales were playing in the pool at Campus Point. It turned out to be four pairs.

After the Counting was done, the camera guy chose to hang out alone and watch all the whales work their way towards the sun. Though no one else was around, the guy swears there was some exuberant breaching after a nursing stop. We’ll have to take his word for it.

He was kind enough to share a calf trying to emulate momma’s exhale. Then, later, with an assist from the sinking sun, there was more parity as the whales moved west and said good day to Counter Point, a very good day.
