Extra Time: Day Three
Dolphins have always been a priority for us, and with the oil crisis, they have moved to the top tier. We certainly enjoy each sighting, but they are not easy. We believe the eraser was invented for gathering data on dolphins. When first sighted, it may seem like a group of two. No three. Ummm, 5 ... there’s a calf ... group of 6, 1 calf; make that 8, including 1 calf. Then there is the propensity for dolphins to disappear. Fun.
We had three sightings of Bottlenose dolphins today. Lots of fun and lots of erasing.
Fine grain clean-up moved to Counter Point, right below us. The protected crew dug, raked, and bagged pools of oil and tarred kelp. They are doing a terrific job. For all our sakes, we hope the next high tide doesn’t re-oil the beach.
The white-suited figures will be back, if needed; and we will be back tomorrow. There were no whales today. We are kinda hoping for another zero day, hoping the parade of Cow/calf pairs has ended, with minimal effect from the oil spill.
