Gray Whales Count

Day 39

Friday, March 25, 2016

A pair of northbound Gray whales blow by Counter Point in an afternoon that gave in to a determined wind. We saw a lot of whales again, so perhaps, there are more whales in the general-migration well ... probably not a whole lot, though.

Today started like we might see fifty, with eight the first hour! The sightings slowed down a bit, and nine of the sightings were singles. Even so, we totaled twenty-three by 4 PM when the wind was screaming and hot. Quite an experience.

Lags were our dolphins of the day and our only other marine mammals: we saw no Harbor seals and we could not find our otter either.
