Gray Whales Count

Day 46

Friday, April 1, 2016

No foolin’: a full day, warm sun, clear skies, and no wind. True.

Oh, and we added another calf!!

If one is going on a long trip, it is pretty nice to do it side-by-side.

Actually some of our whales were up to some trickery: not exactly straight-forward surfacing and blowing. We managed, though, and no reason not to change things up on a two month swim.

Fortunately for us, the usual crowd was around our Point: an otter, at least one Harbor seal, and lots of dolphins, Bottlenose, Commons, and Pacific Whited sided, accompanied by sea lions. We also saw a large group, maybe thirty-five of exclusive California sea lions. It is pretty nice for us to consider them the usual crowd.
