Gray Whales Count
Gray Whales Count
Day 99
Tuesday, May 24, 2016
We started our day with a Mother/calf pair at the Isla Vista kelp about a mile and a half east of us. Nice way to start. At this point, we do not know how much longer the whales are going to pass by our survey site.
When this pair was well past us, Momma fluked, and we wondered if that was the last wave.
We got an answer just after noon: another pair arrived at Campus Point.
About three-thirty, a third pair was at the IV kelp, and momma fluked, as if to say, “You guys may have some more waves in your future.”
We’ll find out tomorrow.
