Gray Whales Count

Day 14

Monday, March 6, 2017

Quite beautiful for most of the day. Lots of Common dolphins were dipping into fish banks all over the place and Pelicans were trying to jump the line to get their share. A single Gray Whale popped up between feeding depots, shrugged and kept on moving east (southbound).

At about eleven and twelve-thirty we saw single Gray whales traveling left to right, northbound, and we put them on the Count Board.

Later we saw Bottlenose dolphins and another southbound Gray. That was it.

The wind started playing tricks: building, dropping, changing direction twice, and then inflating to a 5 Beaufort that pushed us home a bit early.
