Gray Whales Count

Day 86

Wednesday, May 17, 2017

Yesterday, we observed a member of the largest species — a Blue whale. Today, we were introduced to a very, very small being — a Snowy Plover chick — just out of the egg.

This is an amazing place to be: the Coal Oil Point Reserve. Some of you may have an interest in participating in the goings on here in this place full of wonders.

The wind did not give us much of a chance. We are hoping that tomorrow will be calmer and continue that way for a while so we can welcome some more “little” whales and complete our survey.
